What "thin" actually means in practice

  • A slimmer overall enclosure without redesigning the internal frame
  • More clearance for a battery, antenna, or secondary PCB in a fixed-depth housing

Where thin IPS panels make the most difference

  • Handheld terminals — thickness directly affects grip comfort and pocket-ability
  • Wall-mounted or embedded terminals — a thinner panel means a shallower cutout, which can matter for retrofit installations into existing enclosures
  • Portrait-orientation kiosks — tall, narrow enclosures amplify the visual and structural impact of every extra millimeter of depth

What thinner doesn't change

Going thinner doesn't inherently trade away brightness, contrast, or viewing angle — those are separate specs you should confirm independently.
