Why 12.1" sits in its own category
The 8.0"–10.1" panels above share a portrait orientation, MIPI interface, and handheld-scale form factor — they're built for devices held in the hand or mounted vertically. The 13.3"–13.6" panels share landscape orientation, eDP interface, and laptop-adjacent sizing — built for portable monitors and precision display work.
12.1" sits between those two groups both physically and functionally: landscape orientation like the larger panels, but LVDS interface and a size class more common in embedded control panels and mid-size HMI applications than in consumer handheld or laptop-class devices. If your project needs a landscape display bigger than what a 10.1" panel offers but doesn't need the eDP interface or the cost step-up of a 13"+ panel, 12.1" is the size that fills that specific gap. Matching your interface to the right size bracket
Interface compatibility is often the deciding factor before size even comes into play:
- MIPI — standard on our 8.0"–10.1" panels, matches most modern application processors and SoCs used in handheld and embedded designs
- LVDS — used on the 12.1" panel, common in industrial control boards and mid-size embedded systems where MIPI support isn't standard
- eDP — standard on our 13.3"–13.6" panels, the expected interface for laptop-class and portable-monitor driver boards
Confirming which interface your driving board supports will often narrow the size decision before resolution or brightness even become factors.
A simple decision path
- Does your enclosure need portrait orientation and a handheld form factor? → Look at 8.0" (if you need integrated touch) or 10.1" (if display-only and thinness matters)
- Do you need a landscape panel driven by LVDS, in a mid-size embedded or appliance-control form factor? → 12.1" is likely your match
- Do you need a landscape panel driven by eDP, for a portable monitor or laptop-adjacent product? → 13.3" (cost-efficient Full HD) or 13.6" (higher resolution, higher brightness, drawing-pad grade)
